5 Mile Cross Country Run - 29 May 2000
Arnesby > Shearsby > Bruntingthorpe > Arnesby

Race Result
The cross country race was a success! We had 36 runners on the day, and we received good feedback from spectators, officials and runners alike. The runners especially liked the varied and challenging course (I think that must be a reference to the shoulder high oil seed rape they had to swim through in a field beyond Shearsby). Some runners enjoyed themselves so much that they ran off course and probably did an extra half mile - one chap recounted running through Bruntingthorpe and then having to overtake 10 runners again to get back into the lead.

The organisers and May Fayre committee want to extend thanks to race day officials: Ted Toft, Peter Adams, Graham Hillier and Alison Brumpton, with special thanks to Ted and Chris Rathbone from Harborough running club for all their help, guidance and encouragement.

A final summary; all spectators, organisers and most importantly runners thoroughly enjoyed the event - it will surely be bigger and better next year!!
