About Arnesby

Shearsby Road Sign
Pic of old village

The village of Arnesby is situated 8 miles south of Leicester and 25 miles north of Northampton, just off the A5199 (formerly the A50). There are 120 houses, two churches, one restaurant and a Post Office.

The village is surrounded by agricultural land and so far no new building has been allowed outside the present boundaries.

Arnesby is mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 as "Erendesberie" and appears to have been a Saxon settlement originally.

An excellent book was produced by villagers in 1995. The book includes many photographs and gives a fascinating insight into life in the village over the last 100 years.

The book is available from the Post Office, price £10.00 or by mail order

Proceeds go to the Youth Fellowship group to fund future activities.
