End of an Era! The Arnesby Post Office closed it's doors for the last time tonight. The village's last remaining amenity was the victim of cost cutting dogma and it was closed despite protests and petitions in support of keeping it open. A group of thirty villagers turned out to mark the occasion and to wish Postmistress Christine Mawby a long and happy retirement after 27 years in charge. Flowers were presented to Christine and to the also long serving part time staff, Penny Emmony and Jean Hunt. Click here to read about the history of Arnesby's Post Office. |
