23 June v Bruntingthorpe at Gumley
The first game of 2013 saw Arnesby CC take on the old enemy Bruntingthorpe at Gumley. After an early rain delay which failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the players, Arnesby batted first and bravely set a total of 92 against the unpredictable Bruntingthorpe attack. Top scorers for Arnesby were Nick Keyte and Nick Jelley with 15 runs apiece, valuably assisted by Dave Matthews(14), Wes Sykes (13) and the out of retirement Steve Dunn (10)
After a marvellous tea, Bruntingthorpes innings was shored up by impressive batting from Truby, Grundy and Hughes and the 93 runs required were duly polished off in 23 overs despite valiant efforts from Arnesby bowlers Nick Jelley (4 overs,1 wicket for 7 runs) and Mark Furber (5 overs,1 wicket for 17 runs)
Next Match: Sunday August 18th, 2pm start at Gumley. Opposition tbc.
