May Fayre 2018 - Bank Holiday Monday 28th May
Another great day out as always - our usual mix of good food, live music and entertainment for the whole family. An estimated 2,500 visitors enjoyed the warm and dry day.
The Fayre started with a procession lead by the May Queen and her entourage from the village Hall to the Church followed by a peal of bells from St Peter's.
Live music was supplied by various musicians on the top green, St Peter's Church and the Enderby Brass Band gave concerts at the village hall. The Morris team Bakanalia again entertained all over the village (below). The school students performed the traditional Maypole dance at the Firs.
A variety of food was available including BBQs, sandwiches, fancy cakes, cream teas and Ice cream. Cold drinks were available all over the village and there was a licensed bar and a Pimms and Prosecco bar set in a garden.
Once again the cross country run attracted nearly 70 adult and junior runners. (left, Laura Davidson, ladies winner) Race Results»
There were activities for all ages, games for younger children in the Sunnydene garden, bouncy castles, a fairground and a 9m climbing wall. A display of classic cars was a popular new addition this year. Children of all ages were able to take part in the Bird Box Trail challenge to spot a number of bird boxes spread throughout the village. A fascinating display of local memorabilia was on display in St Peter's Church. The RDC Cheerleaders performed gymnastic displays around the village.
We also had a number of stallholders who offered a wide range of quality goods and Arnesby villagers sold home made cakes, plants, home produce and a Junk and Disorderly stall for items looking for a new home.
Preliminary results show that the Fayre made a profit of £7,400 which will support village organisations and amenities. Full Results» (to follow)
